Husky 12-Volt Lithium-Ion 3/8 in. Drive Cordless Ratchet REVIEW! (H38CPRAT34PC)

All new Husky 12V Ratchet H38CPRAT34PC

Provided by the Home Depot Prospective Program for review

This week we had the chance to work with the all new Husky 12V 3/8” ratchet, and liked what we saw. It’s a heavy duty ratchet that really stands out in the Husky line because of one very cool feature; it’s rechargeable.

Husky has been turning up the heat on their main competitor Craftsman by coming out with some really nice hand tools that ultimately have a lifetime guarantee and (no questions asked) return policy. Though they are mostly known for socket sets, wrenches and tool boxes, Husky is going all in with their all new 12V rechargeable ratchet.

The 12-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Ratchet also comes with a 34 piece socket set, AC charger, and a really nice hard-shell case to keep everything protected.

One of the nice things about this ratchet is that is has a variable speed trigger which allows you to control the speed of the motor when removing or installing a fastener. It’s super smooth and easy to control how tight each fasteners gets.

As for built, it’s extremely solid with a thick outside casing that will take a lot of abuse. That being said, it is a bit heavier as it weighs 3.8 lbs, not to mention it’s a rather big tool with a length of 10.75”. It is however built tough enough to work in some of the toughest environments

As for power, it’s not going to help you win any NASCAR races, but it does pack a punch. Here are the ratings below:

1       1.Powered torque up to 30 ft./lbs.
2        2. Manual torque up to 150 ft./lbs.
3       3Quickly install or remove fasteners with the 230 RPM motor

As for other features, the Husky 12V ratchet is rechargeable and takes about 1.5 hours for a full charge using the provided A/C adaptor. We noticed that it does hold a charge well, but you can’t replace the battery with a new one once drained. They also included a LED battery fuel gauge on the handle to keep you informed on how much battery life you have remaining. It also has an overload protection to prevent damage to the tool. The one downside though is that this is a brushed tool, so keep that in mind.

Now as weather or not you can get this into tight spaces, well… we were surprised how well this actually performed. The head is low-profile and can actually get into very tight, awkward areas. The length was actually helpful when trying to get into those tight areas, and made it much easier to reach than your standard socket wrench would. It also has a bright built in LED light that will keep those areas illuminated.
So which sockets do you get with this ratchet?

Eight 1/4 in. drive 6-point sockets: SAE: 1/4 in., 9/32 in., 5/16 in., 11/32 in. MM: 8 mm, 9 mm, 10 mm, 11 mm, fourteen 3/8 in. drive 6 point sockets: SAE: 3/8 in., 7/16 in., 1/2 in., 9/16 in., 5/8 in., 11/16 in., 3/4 in., MM: 12 mm, 13 mm, 14 mm, 15 mm, 16 mm, 17 mm, 18 mm, ten 3/8 in. drive 6-point deep sockets: SAE: 5/16 in., 3/8 in., 7/16 in., 1/2 in., 9/16 in., MM: 10 mm, 11 mm, 12 mm, 13 mm, 14 mm, one 3/8 in. drive 3 in. extension bar, one 3/8 in. F x 1/4 in. M drive adapter

At the end of the day, we felt that though the new Husky 12V ratchet was not perfect, it would defiantly make the job not only easier, but faster than when using a manual ratchet. The built quality is great, and the power is enough to make just about any job a breeze. We did wish it was brushless, and at least had a belt clip, but other than those small items, it’s a solid, well rounded tool.
