The R86448B can be used with one or two hands |
This saw is simply perfect. Its not one of those massive saws that you need to lug around and find storage for, but it gets the job done just as good. Best thing is, it has a life time warranty with registration.
Anyone who has used the new RIDGID OCTANE line knows that they are extremely powerful. This saw is no different as I was able to cut through wood, metal, plastic and everything else I threw in from of it with ease.
I love how you can truly use one hand while cutting. It's light weight and balanced very well. It's also really nice for tight areas, and the LED light in the front also helps illuminate those dark areas. If you wanted to use two hand, they added a lip on the front that allows you safely place you other hand to add downward pressure.

the dedicated light trigger is in a good place, and the orbital on/off switch is super convenient. The orbital action is also very powerful and cuts through wood fast.
As for build, the saw is professional grade and feels great in the hands. The rubber over-mold is textured and slip resistant. The D-handle design is nice, and helps eliminate vibration.
Though it is not as powerful as the full size OCTANE saw, it can still do everything it does with no issues. I will say that this feels a lot more controlled while cutting than the larger saws, so that's a huge plus. That being said, if you do mostly demo work, I would go with the full size saw.
All in all, this saw is simply perfect, and the smart OCTANE batteries turn this saw into an unstoppable force that just comes in a smaller package. You could also use any other RIDGID 18V non-OCTANE batteries and it will still work.
All in all, I was impressed with the power and comfort of this saw and could not be happier.
