We've all been there. You see a commercial showing off the latest and greatest tool to hit the market, only to find out how bad it sucks once you get it home. In the old days, the best way to research a tool before making the buy was word of mouth. If you were lucky, you may have had a neighbor that already had the item you were looking at, and let you borrow it for a day or two, but now information relating to tools, home electronics, appliances or any other gadgets that your interested in can be found with a few stokes of the keyboard. In the post, we will look at the six best ways to research your tools, or any other item before buying them.

#6 Go to the store:

One of my favorite stores to visit is the Home Depot. I always feel like a kid in a candy store when I go there, but I don't just drive there to buy bug spray. Stores like Home Depot and Lowes actually have display tools that they allow you to test before buying. The brick and mortar stores hold a huge advantage over the online stores as they let you physically feel, see, hear and hold the item in your hand rather than just staring at a picture of it online. That being said, you may not be able to build a shed with the display drill, but you can definitely drive a few screws into a 2x4 while your there.

With the beginning of spring and summer, most of us begin breaking out the long equipment that sat dormant for the winter.

If your like me, you don't really worry about adding fuel stabilizers, changing motor oil or even care to check if your equipment has oil as they will run forever....right? Unfortunately, you may find out

the hard way like I did this weekend when I seized up my mower do to low engine oil. You see, I actually had a small leak that I never noticed and come to find (as I was mowing) that no oil equals bad thing for your equipment's engine.

As I was mowing, I felt my mower starting to bog down. I actually thought that I was running out of gas, so I checked the tank only to see there was plenty in there. I then figured maybe I just hit a high patch if grass, so I went to pull start it again, but it was completely locked up!

Not only was I upset because I destroyed a perfectly good machine (so I thought), I was also embarrassed because I actually let this happen in the first place. After standing there for about 45 minutes with a look of shock and disbelief on my face, I started thinking about the three options I had.

There are 10 million different articles on the Internet that focus on weather or not to bag you clippings while cutting your grass. In one corner, you have those that say if your grass clippings are bagged, you are keeping important nutrients from your grass that helps it grow. Others will tell you that they hate cleaning there patios, walkways and driveways  after every cut (including myself), so therefore they bag. No matter what group you belong to, we are going to look at whether or not bagging is ok while keeping that perfectly manicured lawn, or if you should it is the bag and mulch, mulch, mulch.

Everyone wants that beautiful, lush, golf course looking lawn, but becoming the envy of the neighborhood takes more that just bagging or not bagging you clippings. Every decision you make when planning your yearly lawn care schedule counts.

Every year I apply about a tone of fertilizer that would probably level my neighborhood if someone struck a match next to it. I love those dark green blades of luscious grass that almost look fake from a distance, but I need to cut at least twice a week, or it starts growing out if control. Even if I cut twice a week, the grass is so full, that I end up with clippings everywhere. That being said, I will spend another hour cleaning off by driveway and other walk areas which I really don't like.

If you ask my wife, my boss or anyone else that knows me, they will probably tell you that I am not the most organized person that you Will ever meet. My tools are usually scattered throughout my garage, and my desk has three mounds of paper work on any given day.

The problem usually comes when I realize that my truck and house keys are buried somewhere under all that mess, and that I will be spending most of my day looking for them. The other thing I will admit to you is that I am also not the most punctual person either, which leaves me racing out the door without my keys on a daily basis. This then leaves me crawling through a window or smashing my new key lock box (that I forgot the combination to) with a hammer to get the spare.

The point is, I always knew there were better locks on the market that would make my life easier, but guys are a strange bread. Not carrying a pocket full of keys is a strange feeling for me. Think about it, whether it's a car, house, boat or safe, everything that is valuable to you takes a key. That being said, by the time you add up all the metal you have hanging from your key chain, you probably won't even remember what key works with what. Not to mention, replacing you prison guard key ring would be a real pain in the butt.

ARE ELECTRIC LAWN MOWERS WORTH THE MONEY?

I am the kind of guy that feels everything that comes with a motor should have a big block v8 in it. It doesn't matter if it's a car, motorcycle, boat or even a lawnmower, I want more power than I know what to do with. My philosophy is bigger is better, so I was very skeptical when a friend of mine suggested that I try one of the new electric/battery push mowers.

Electric tools, including mowers are leaps and bounds ahead of where they used to be. Mowers today have larger batteries that last around an hour a piece in run time, and many newer mowers take two batteries that let you switch between one another. That means once one goes dead, the other is ready to go while the other is in the charger. Not only that, the new lithium ion batteries on the market charge extremely fast, so you always have one ready to go. The other cool thing about some of these mowers (such as Echo) conserve energy while cutting to save on battery run time. While cutting, the mower will actually adjusts the power needed to cut lower/higher grass on it's own. When getting into higher grass, you can actually her the mower sending more power to the blades to get the job done.

There is one thing that my wife tries to get me to do that I avoid like the plague......camping. I know most guys like to throw up a tent in the middle of nowhere and sleep on a hard bug infested ground, but I'm not one of them. The biggest drawback for me is the lack of....... well just about everything modern (electric, running water, television, air conditioning etc.), but if there was a way I could get power out to me so I could at least hook up a bug zapper to kill off some mosquitoes, then maybe I would reconsider?

Talking to my father-in-law, I swear the only tools people ever owned was a hammer and chisel. Even though there are still those talented enough to install a door only using those basic tools, most of us (including myself) are not, so we are going to look at a few cool little tools that can make the door hanging process as easy as 1, 2 and 3.
