Ryobi Cordless 18v Brushless Drywall Scew Gun Model# P225 |
Hanging drywall is not an easy task, but using a screw gun
over a drill makes this job much less difficult and installation a whole lot
faster. With that said, one of the major setbacks for home owners that are
looking to tackle that unfinished basement, or kitchen remodel is what a tool
like this cost. Ryobi changed all that and now you can purchase this very
affordable, well designed screw gun that even the pros would be happy with.
Let
talk about build quality first:
At first glance, we could tell right away that this gun was built with quality
as a focus. It has a heavy duty plastic casing that is covered in a non-slip Gripzone
over-mold that allows the user to achieve a Ryobi even placed a nice contoured palm grip area near the top of the gun so
you can comfortably handle the gun when working on ceilings. It really did feel
like we were holding a much pricier model in our hands while using this.
solid grip that won’t let your
hands slip.
What
about power?
This screw gun gives you up to 4,700 RMP, which is nothing to laugh at.
Even with 3/4
” drywall, the screws were sunk perfectly and effortlessly every
single time. Even when using a 2.0Ah battery, we were able to sink every screw
evenly with no signs of power loss. In our opinion, the power of this gun will
easily rival others in the $200 rage.
Ryobi
Quiet Drive feature:
Ryobi added a feature to this screw gun that you really only see on
more expensive guns (Quiet Drive). The
QuietDrive feature automatically starts the motor on contact with drywall,
providing less noise and battery conservation. When this mode is turned on
(simply push a button), the gun will only work once you insert a screw and
apply pressure to the head. This will definitely help to keep those batteries
running longer on larger jobs.
Batteries:
What’s great about the screw gun is that it will run off of any Ryobi 18v
OnePlus battery. This means you can use the same Ryobi battery that you use in
you shop light; weed trimmer, drill etc. in this screw gun. Ryobi also claims
that you can sink over 3,000 screws with this gun on a single charge. We are
assuming that this is the case with the Ryobi 4.0Ah battery, and not a 2.0Ah.
Not to mention, no cords or electrical outlets needed to power this bad boy.
Other
features:
Along with everything else we just talked about, Ryobi added a few more
features that may come in very handy to you.
1 1. It comes with an LED light located on the base
which illuminates as soon as you pull the trigger. The light is bright and does
great job lighting up the immediate area that you are working in. The light
will also stay illuminated for around ten (10) seconds after you release the
trigger.
2 2. This screw gun comes with a belt clip that snaps
into place rather than having to screw it in like many others. It can be
installed on the right or left side of the base depending if you are a righty
or lefty.
3 3. Ryobi also added a trigger lock that you can
engage to power through any job. This lock will allow
the bit to turn continuously
without the need of holding the trigger down. This works great to avoid
ergonomics issues from constantly pulling the trigger.
4 4. It comes with the bit holder and bit included so
you can get started right away.
5. Ryobi added a powerful magnet near the base of the gun that will hold multiple screws at once.
