Remember how cool it was when the first Paslode (gas)
nailers started hitting the market. No aire was needed, cords were thought to
be a thing of the past, and everyone thought this would be the new standard.
Well, even though the combustible cans of gas have made nailers much more
portable, the new generation of nailers have already started taking over the
shelves, and DeWalt is leading the charge.
Today, we are taking a look at the all new DEWALT 20-Volt MAX Lithium-Ion 21-Degree
Cordless Framing Nailer. This beastly battery powered nailer is capable of
driving 21 degree fasteners from 2 in. to 3-1/4 in. and its compatible with all
DEWALT 20-Volt MAX batteries and chargers.
Now even though DeWalt is not the first to create a battery
powered nailer, the DCN21PL 20-Volt MAX 21° Plastic Collated Framing Nailer is
however DEWALT's first cordless 21° framing nailer. It’s an extremely powerful
gun, and is capable of driving plastic collated fasteners up to 3-1/4 in. L for
use in a variety of applications (fencing, framing, and decking)

By no means is this the
lightest, most compact framing nailer I have ever used, and yeah, it can be
cumbersome to use it over the head. That being said, it's by far one of the
coolest nailers I have ever used.
The build on this gun is very
heavy duty. No worries about dropping this thing a few times as it is really
well built. They also give you a few different modes of operation. The first is
mode one, which will drive single shot nails up to two inches. The other is
mode two which will drive nails up to 3 3/8". If you select mode one, it
will help conserve battery power, but will not shoot more than two inches long,
but mode two is a monster and will rev up very quickly and allow you to fire
one nail after another using the bump selection. Each nail drives in perfectly,
and the depth adjustment is also very easy to make using the larger knob.
The only other issue I have
with this nailer (other than weighing ober 8lbs without the battery) is that it’s
a pain to un-jam nails, but I have not had to do that yet as they fire fast and
accurate.
All in all, we love this
nailer. Not as fast as a pneumatic, but very close. Not to mention, no oil, no
air lines and no gas cartridges needed. Well done Dewalt.
Dual-speed motor optimized to drive a wide range of
fasteners for a variety of applications
