Dewalt 20V MAX XR Cordless 5" Orbit Sander DCW210B |
We took the all new Dewalt 20V MAX Cordless Brushless 5”
Orbit out for a spin the other day (pun intended) and was pleasantly surprised with
the power this tool produced.
The sander runs off of the 20 Volt MAX EX batteries, and actually
holds up to the pneumatic sanders that dominate the industry. So how is this
possible? Well, Dewalt gave this a brushless motor that produces a whopping
8,000 to 12,000 OPM (oscillations per minute). Not only that, but the speed can
be adjusted easily by using the nicely positioned speed control knob.
As for the built, it’s definitely solid. This sander will have
absolutely no issues holding up in the toughest environments, and will take a
beating. The over mold that they placed on this sander is
tough, but it’s also comfortable.
I really liked how it felt in the hands, and it really helped mitigate some of
the vibration when in use.
As for the 5” sanding pad, it’s Velcro and allows the user
to switch out sanding pads quick and easy. We used Diablo pads with different
grits to see if they would stay on…they did. No issues with the pads wanting to
come off, and the holes lined up perfectly.
Other than that small issue, this sander is defiantly worth
looking at. The runtime on this was decent. Using a 4AH battery, we received around
35 minutes of usage with this sander, but different applications and materials
will make a difference with these times.
All in all, it’s a powerful sander that will get the job
done. For the build quality, portability and power alone, we definitely recommend!
