Through high school and even a
few years after I graduated, I worked in an auto body/mechanic shop. Nearly
every day I had to grease car and truck bearings, and I hated it. I really
disliked constantly moving that lever up and down, up and down, up and down.
Other than working with fiberglass, it was my least favorite job to do. Fast
forward twenty three years, and look how far technology has come. We tried the
Dewalt Cordless Grease Gun (Model# DCGG571B), and this is what we thought.
When you think of a grease gun,
you think of a tool that you manually operate to release the grease, or a nozzle
that is hooked up to an airline. One is faster but less portable, and one is
portable, but a real pain to use. Dewalt fixed both of these issues with their cordless
grease gun. It runs off of a 20v Max battery, its portable, and surprisingly it’s
really fast.
Another nice thing about the Dewalt
grease gun is that they give you a 42 in. extra-long and flexible hose designed
for reaching hard to access grease fittings. And if that’s not enough for you,
they also added a bright LED light on the front of the unit so you can see
those hardly lit areas.
The only issue that I found with
this unit was the grease cap that goes onto the tip of the hose. The secured it
with a very thin piece of plastic that broke within the first hour of use. Why
they would add such a cheap item to such a heavy duty grease gun is beyond me,
but that was really the only thing that I found to be a negative about this
tool.
It’s quiet, built very well (except
the grease cap) and it pushes the grease into just about any piece of equipment
you need it to. If you’re someone that is tires of dragging around a hose, or
applying grease manually, definitely check the Dewalt grease gun out for
yourself.
