We have been reviewing a lot more DEWALT Tools lately, and we have to say, they really are DEWALT Tough. Today we are looking that the DEWALT 20-Volt MAX XR Lithium-Ion Cordless Brushless Drill/Impact Combo Kit (2-Tool) with (2) Batteries (1) 2Ah, (1) 4Ah,Charger and Bag DCK283D2

Before we start looking at all of the cool features and awesome power that these tools have to offer, can I just say “MADE IN AMERICA!” Yes, while so many of our favorite tool brands are made overseas, this kit is made right here in the good old USA. The reason I bring this up is because (a.) IT’S AWESOME, and (b.) that’s one of the first questions I get asked from my subscribers.

Now that we answered the “where are they made” questions, let’s talk about how very awesome this kit actually is.

3      Two (2) Batteries (1) 2AH (1) 4Ah

4      Soft case.

Let’s talk about the drill/driver first. 

When I first picked up the drill, I thought to myself “this seems kinda small?” It really did seem light to me as I am used to working with larger bulkier drills. I charged the batteries and popped on in. What I experienced next was something that I never would have expected. The power, the torque, the smoothness of operation was mind blowing. 

This little bad ass was packing 2,000 rpm! At only 3.4lbs, who would ever of thought they could get so much energy into such a little drill. I threw in some Bosch multi-purpose bits and off I went. Wood… right through, metal… right through, plastic… right through, and then I seen a concrete block eyeballing me.   

What you may not know is that you can actually switch this from standard drill mode to impact drill mode; or as I like to call it (HOLLY CRAP MODE)! I flipped the switch, placed my bit right over the block and pulled the trigger.  The yellow beast started pounding away at the block like it was angry at it. Within five seconds, I was able to drill a prefect hole straight through. 

I couldn’t believe it. On standard drill mode, I would have taken me two minutes to get through the block, but in driver mode, it was just plain power insanity. I drilled one hole after another, after another after another, and it just kept going. 

DEWALT claims that the XR lithium-ion batteries with fuel gauge provide 33% more capacity over standard packs. I believe it as I really put these batteries under load and they just kept going. In no way did I feel the drill overheating, slowing down or losing power of any kind. 

You also get two different power setting that can be adjusted simply by flipping a switch on the top of the drill. Not to mention they give you three different LED settings that range from high, low and a 20 minute (yes, 20 minutes) of run time after the trigger is pulled. That is huge for those who work in dim lit areas.

All in all, the drill driver is an absolute monster, but what about the impact gun?

Just like the drill/driver, the 1/4" impact is packed full of awesomeness. DEWALT gives to three different power modes that range from slow and controlled all the way up to HOLY CRAP! mode. At only 2.6 lbs this monster has a whopping 3,250 RPM and give 3,800 BPM!

Now both the Drill/Driver and the Impact is brushless, which DEWALT claims adds up to 57% more run time versus brushed models.   

The impact can also be used as a driver when paired with the Bosch multi purpose bits, and will basically destroy anything you put in it's path (in a good way).

The Impact also comes with three LED lights for better visibility in confined areas, and also feels great in the hands during use. 

These are both extremely powerful tools that can be used in many different applications, and you wont bust your hump while using them because of how light and compact they are. That being said, you just can't go wrong with this kit, and I definitely recommend you giving them a try as you will be totally amazed with their overall performance.
