DEWALT recently released their new ½ in. impact wrench, but
don’t let the size of this little monster fool you. At only 3.8 lbs, this baby
produces 3,100 IMP (Impacts per Minute), has a maximum speed of 2,000 RPM, and
produces 3,960 Torque lb-in!
This .5 impact wrench is extremely compact which really
allows the user to work in some tight spaces, but power was not a trade-off when
they built this tool. We drove ½” lag screws through treated 4x4s effortlessly (without
pilot holes). Even factory installed lug nuts were no match for this wrench.
One of the coolest features of the DEWALT impact wrench was
the (Precision Wrench Control). What this feature actually does is gives the
user complete control of their drives. When the trigger is pulled, the anvil
will impact slowly for a couple seconds to help with stability, and then all
hell is unleashed. This feature also helps to prevent over tightening and
lowers speed when fastener is loose
to help prevent run-off.
Now just in case you needed even more control, DEWALT gives
you three different control settings that range from low to medium to hold on
to your ass! They also added three LED
lights to help illuminate the work area for you.
Other than that small issue, everything else on the DEWALT
Impact Wrench worked flawlessly. The build what exactly what you would expect
it to be for a DEWALT tool, and the power was really impressive considering this
was smaller than I am used to. It’s definitely worth taking a look at for
yourself.
