Amazon Prime Day is upon us once again, and once again it feels like an Amazon garbage clean out day. As a Prime member, I was excited about finding great deals not only in the tool section, but other home and tech category... They never came.
What is Prime Day:
In case you live under a rock, Amazon Prime Day is a one year event that is only open to Prime members. It's like cyber Monday in July where Prime members can find great deals on items such as tools, home appliances, game, toy etc. The only problem is, those deals never really came. The most anticipated category for me was the tool section. Amazon always has a wide array of tools to choose from on their site, so I figured Prime Day would be a good time to check out some great tools at great prices.
As 9:00 pm approached, I had my iPad in hand, and a laser like focus that not even two screaming kids could disrupt. As soon as the Prime Day started, I was off to the races. I was looking for grinders, planers, a nice circular saw and what ever else I could get my hands on, but instead, only ten items popped up that I could choose from.
What items were in the tool section?

They also place a little times at the bottom of each product to show you when that "deal" will be available.
My second though when I seen this was (how much money can one save on a little item like this)? It's not like these are expensive to begin with, so did they really need to add this to Prime Day?

It was not only the most beautiful umbrella hate that I have ever laid my eyes on, but one of the most well designed, functional and colorful umbrella hats that I have ever seen!
Were there any good items?
In case you are wondering, I was not really excited about this hat, I was actually a bit pissed. The only two halve decent tools that were a Generac Power Washer, and a 4 /12 Makita angle grinder that had $7 taken off the price. Even those items were not worth the money to me, as you could find bigger and better compatible items from other brands for even cheaper. Not to mention, they were gone within 20 minutes, so good luck trying to grab one of those.
What about the other categories?
The other categories were no different. The Amazon products mostly consisted of kindle and Alexa products, but did not even offer the Fire Stick. Wouldn't you think that Amazon would offer a deal on one of their most popular products on one of their most popular days? Even in the fitness section, the only thing they seemed to push was knock off versions of the fitbit, and/or third party fitbit replacement bands.
I have had better products offered to me for free.
I can honestly say that as a top 3k Amazon reviewer, I have had better products offered to me for free. You see, as a top reviewer, companies that sell on Amazon email you to try there products for free in exchange for a review. Though I do not do this as it's against Amazon's rules, I felt that these were the types of items that were being pushed off to us... the Amazon Consumer. There were more ear phones, cheap watches and tacky bed sheets that one could take in. Many of these items were only selling for a fraction of a discount, and still not worth the time or money spent on them.
What is really behind Amazon Prime Day?
Now, I am not really trying to take shots at Amazon because I want to jump on the bandwagon of "I hate Amazon Prime Day" articles. I actually love Amazon. I also love Prime as I never have problems with late deliveries, or returns. So this is why I am a bit confused as to why Amazon would push so much junk on it's faithful customers?
There are two reason I believe this Prime Day takes place.
1. It exposes Amazon sellers to the public. Amazon knows that if it marks some with the word (sale) next to it. we the consumer jump all over it. More sales for the seller equals more $$$ to Amazon.
2. Publicity, publicity publicity. Amazon also know that when they advertise Prime Day as have the best deals around, the news picks up on it. For the past week, all I heard was Prime Day, Prime Day Prime Day in the news. Once again, more publicity = more $ for Amazon.
3. The third reason is probably the biggest reason who Amazon Has their annual Prime Day event. I truly believe that because Prime Day is only open to Prime Members, people sing up for membership in droves. For every member it signs up equals another $100 dollars in the pocket of Amazon.
Will I fall for another Prime Day event?
As much as I would love to say that I will never fall for next Prime Day (2018) I'm sure I will be right back to the computer searching for the next best deal. Even though I did not spend one cent this year on these crap products, I'm a sucker just like so many others that fall for this year after year. That being said, Amazon is the king of hype. Even if I did not find anything that I wanted/needed, it was the excitement that brought me to Amazon for Prime Day. Though upset now, I'm sure will be participating again next year complaining with the rest of you.
