Milwaukee changes the game with their new black oxide thunderbolt drill bits

Milwaukee just released their new black oxide Thunderbolt drill bits, and their awesome!

The new 15 piece includes:

1/16 in., 5/64 in., 3/32 in., 7/64 in., 1/8 in., 9/64 in., 5/32 in., 11/64 in., 3/16 in., 13/64 in., 7/32 in., 1/4 in., 9/32 in., 5/16 in. and 3/8 in.

Not only will you receive the bits, but you'll also get a heavy duty holding case to keep them safe from the elements.

What makes these bits different from the rest?

Milwaukee reinforced their new drill bit core to prevent them from snapping in half while drilling in an angle. We added a lot of added pressure when drilling straight down, and on an angle with no signs if breakage or even slight bending.

The tip of these bits are milled at a 135 degree angle to prevent walking/skating during drilling. This new design works so well, you can even drill on a curve with no issues. Just make sure to add a bit more pressure when doing so.

Parabolic flute, clears chips faster

The two other unique features include a Parabolic flute which clears chips faster, and a three sides flat shank to prevent slipping in the chuck while drilling.

The new bent flute design is not only incredibly sharp, but really does a great job transferring the wood chips to the top of the bit.

How sharp are the bits?

These pits are incredibly sharp to the point you could possibly cut yourself if you weren't careful. The Milwaukee bits cut through metal, treated lumber and plastic with no effort at all. It was actually funny at one point while drilling into a treated 4x4 post, as it seemed almost effortless to get the hole drilled.

What does the black oxide do for the bits?

Not only the the black oxide act as a protectent for the bits, but it's also a lubricant that prevents the bits from overheating. Even when drilling through metal the bits stayed cool, and the oxide looked as good as new.

Can professionals use these bits?

Anyone would be happy with the performance of these bits, but Milwaukee definitely had the pros in mid when they designed these. It doesn't matter if you are a mechanic, construction professional, or a diy'er, these bits will hold up to anything to throw in front if them.

Summary

Bottom line, these are hands down the best general purpose bits that I have ever used. The build quality are second to none, and the updated flute design is just plain awesome. We can also say that the 135 degree milled tip deffinetly helps prevent walking, and makes angle drilling a breeze.
