Although the single paddle mixer offered more than enough
power to mix everything from thin set to concrete, it was mixing one thing, the
fully automated, programmable and built in pre-set features that the dual mixer
has.
The first thing we looked for was power. We knew that it
should handle everything we threw at the last mixer, but we wanted to make the
challenge a bit tougher this time. How did we do that you ask, well we grabbed
a five gallon bucket, placed both paddles all the way down, added a half gallon
of water and dumped in a full 60lb bag of quikrete into the mix.
Now that we were ready to mix up some concrete, we decided
to use the concrete pre-set (yes, it comes with presets). The mixer has ten
pre-sets stored into the mixer that range from pain and thin set, to mortar and
cement. Each has its own countdown timer and power setting. Just push the start
button, and off it goes.
So this is exactly what we did, and as soon as we hit the
start button, the paddles came to life. The paddles began churning and turning
like they were hungry for some concrete. Everything started coming together. I
reminded me of a giant hand mixer when making brownie batter (may actually try
that). What was great about this was all I had to do was push a button and walk
away. After five minutes, the machine went into rest mode (6 minutes) and my
mix was done.
It was amazing, I did not have to do anything but set my
pre-set and walk away. What really made this possible is the extremely heavy
duty stand that this mixer comes with. It’s solid steel, and has arms that move
up, down, left and right. It will also lock the mixer in place while in use so
it won’t move the bucket around. I almost didn’t know what to do with myself
while the mixer was… well, mixing.
Now, even if you don’t want to use one of the ten programmed
pre-sets, you can add an additional eight of your own. Maybe you like your mix
to have a personalized consistency, well you can do that with this, and each
batch will come out exactly the same every time.
After we were done, we wanted to see how much room this
mixer/stand would take up during
storage. Surprisingly, it did not take up
much. The mixer can be removed from the stand, and the arms all fold down
nicely. The legs also fold up into itself, and all you’re really left with a
metal pole. Just take it and place it in the corner of the shop and forget it’s
even there until next use. You can even take this unit apart in about two minutes
and toss it in the back of you van without issue.
At the end of the day, not only is this mixer powerful, but it’s
very practical. It’s easy to use, and really takes the stain off your back and
hands while mixing, and you can bring it from site to site with minimal effort.
Not to mention, you can kill two birds with one stone as it will mix for you
while you work on other tasks.
This is a very well thought out piece of equipment, and we really
think that it will make your job much easier on you and your back.
