FLEXVOLT 60-Volt MAX Lithium-Ion Cordless Brushless 7-1/4 in. Wormdrive Style Circ Saw w/ Battery 9Ah, Charger and Bag(Model # DCS577X1) |
Every once in a while, a new tool comes to market that deifies
the law of tool manufacturing. The new FLEXVOLT 60-Volt MAX Brushless 7-1/4 in.
Wormdrive Style Circular Saw is in a class of it’s own, and now others are
going have to play catch up just to compete.
(This post is sponsored by The Home Depot) Let me start by saying that this is by far the most powerful, well-built and downright awesome circular saw that I have ever used. We have tested many circular saws in the past, but the new (DCS577X1) is just something that we never experienced before.
Build Quality
When I first took it out of the (included) carry bag, the
first this that stood out was how well it was made. You could tell right away
that this was made with the professional in mind. The casing is made

The Battery
This saw comes with a 9.0Ah 60-volt, yes... (60 VOLT!) battery. Think about it, most
of the new battery powered lawn equipment like mowers, weed eaters, and leaf blowers
only use a 40v. Now imagine an extra 20 volts placed in a circular saw. Get my
point?
The battery charges fast on the included fast charge
charger, and took about 35 minutes to get a full charge. That’s impressive
considering how large this battery is. It also comes with a charge indicator to
let you know how much juice you still have left. Even after making multiple
cuts on plywood and 2x4’s the battery held it’s charge and really gave us long
run times.
Power
When I mentioned above that this was the most powerful battery
powered saw that I have ever used, I was not exaggerating. As soon as you pull
the trigger, the monster comes alive. I almost thought I
heard it whisper “Feed
me Seymour” when I pulled the trigger? The (5,800 RPM) that the motor produces
is insane. So insane that not only will this saw dominate every other battery
powered saw on the market, but their corded big brother would run home crying to
mommy too. Each and every cut that we made impressed us more and more.
The saw was so powerful, that we could not even tell when we began cutting into
the wood! It truly is the most powerful saw we have ever used.
Comfort
Though this saw weighs in at 19.2lbs, it was balanced very
well. The extra weight actually allowed us to keep the saw down on the wood, and
helped keep the cut nice and straight. It was really surprising how well it
actually felt in the hand. It has a comfortable molded grip that helps mitigate
vibration on the hand, and the handle is crafted nicely for a comfortable grip.
The textured molding will also help prevent you hand from slipping, even if
your hand is wet.
Line of Site
DeWalt designed this saw with the line of sight to the left
of the motor. That, and the rear handle design, look at what you are cutting
has never been easier. It was just so easy to look at the cut line as I was
making the actual cut. This also helped in keeping your body lined up with the
saw which in return reduced the awkward postures that we sometimes get while
using other saws.
1
Bevel Capacity: 53 o with positive

Additional Features
1 1..An integrated dust blower allows the user to
clear its line of sight while cutting (this was very impressive)
2 2. Rafter hook that allows users to hang their tool
3 3.Electronic brake that helps stop the blade after
the trigger is released (Stops the blade very quickly).
4 4. Brushless motor (huge plus!)
5 5. Onboard blade wrench storage for convenience
when changing blades (Comes in very
handy).
All in all, this saw is simply amazing. DeWalt has really
set a new standard for themselves, and if you have not had the
chance to experience this saw yet, you really need too.
