Milwaukee M-12 12-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Rivet Tool Model # 2550-22 / #2500 |

Right after high school, I began working in the auto body shop. I loved working on cars, but there were two things that I absolutely hated doing; sanding fiberglass (itchy!) and the second, pop rivets. I knew every time I seen someone dropping off a rust bucket full of holes that I would be patching all day, and that my hands would bear the full brunt of the work ahead. This is why I am so excited to review the new Milwaukee m12 cordless rivet gun, as this tool definitely changes the game.
Anyone who ever had to use a manual rivet gun knows just what a
pain it can be. You have to squeeze the handle multiple times in a row just to
get the rivet tight, and then most of the time you have to twist, twist and
turn just to break the stem off. If you were lucky, the rivet stem would make a
clean break, but most of the time, they didn’t. Not only that, forget about ergonomics. The repetitive
action of squeeze, squeeze, and twist killed my hands; and that was not a good
thing for someone that relied on them for my job.
So after years of doing this, I figured that this was just the way
it was, but this year (2018), the Milwaukee Tool Company released their new m12
cordless rivet gun. At first I was a bit skeptical as I figure it would just be
some fancy tool that maybe, somewhat worked… boy was I wrong!
Another great feature of this gun is that you can get it into very
tight spaces. At only
6.5” in length, this is the most compact cordless rivet tool on the market. Measuring only 6.5” in length it will allow
you to access extremely tight spaces. It even has a bright LED light on
the base to help illuminate the darkest of areas.
Now you are
probably wondering what size rivets this can pull, well check out these specs:
Pull
Up to 3/16" Stainless Steel Rivets
450
1/8" Steel Rivets per charge
Pull
3/32", 1/8", 5/32", 3/16" Rivets
Aluminum,
Steel, Stainless Steel - Capacity
0.8"
Stroke Length
2,000
lbs. pulls force
Tool

Reach = 1.55"
Types
of Rivets Used - 3/32"-3/16" All Material
Mandrel
Sizes Included - 3/32", 1/8", 5/32", 3/16"
Now,
even if you purchase this tool without the kit, you will still get four (4) mandrel
heads included. Even if you happen to
lose one or two, you can purchase them separately for a replacement option. That being said, I doubt you will have that issue as the heads can be stored in
a removable rubber holding area located next to the battery insert area.
One
last question you may have is “how fast is this gun?” Put it this way, I have
never been able to install rivets faster. If you work with metal on a daily
basis, it will cut your job time down to under half the time as the speed of this
gun is insanely fast. We were able to install 20 rivets in about 10-15 seconds easily.
No
more compressors, hoses, sore hands and wasted time getting the job done. The
new m12 Milwaukee Cordless Rivet Gun is truly a great tool. If you work with
metal on a daily basis, I we definitely suggest you try this beast, as it will
change the way you work.
