DEWALT 20-Volt MAX Lithium-Ion Cordless Oscillating Multi-Tool REVIEW! (DCS355B)

DEWALT Multi Tool DCS355B

It’s a rarity when a tool comes along that everyone, and I mean everyone throws praise at it. That’s exactly the type of response we received when we did our review on the Dewalt 20-Volt MAX Lithium-Ion Cordless Oscillating Multi-Tool. Read more below…

When we do reviews for a specific tool brand, we always get a few comments from fans of the competing brands about how their brand is so much better. Let’s be honest, Dewalt has their fan boys and Milwaukee, Bosch, Ridgid and Makita etc. have theirs. So when we started getting comments rolling in from the fan boys of other brands talking about how great the Dewalt multi tool is, I was shocked. Now that being said, I can jokingly say that I am a fan boy of many of the major brands as they all offer something different, but I can also say that this was probably one of the best tools we have ever reviewed on this channel.
Feel:

When you first pick up the Dewalt Multi Tool, you can tell how well it is constructed. It’s sleek, ergonomically correct and powerful as all hell. Everything about the design of this tool was near perfect. The rubber over-mold had a nice textured grip, and really helped prevent the tool from
slipping out of your hand when wet. The vibration was also mitigated as the over-mold is a bit thicker than you see on other oscillating tools.

Power:

We used a 4.0 Dewalt MAX XR battery with this tool, and it dominated the material that we cut with it. Plastic, wood and metal, it didn’t matter as this tool ate through it all with ease. Once of the best parts about the Dewalt Oscillating tool is that is comes with a variable speed trigger which allows you to make very controlled cuts. I actually like the variable speed trigger much more than the common on/off/speed dial. The one and only issue that I have is I wish you could lock the trigger in the low positions. They do allow you to lock the trigger on when it is fully engaged, but if you could set the speed on different OPM, I would say that this was a perfect tool.
Other Specs:

Did I mention that this is a brushless tool? If not, it is! Here are some of the others specs that you’ll probably find handy to know.

1. Dual-grip variable speed trigger gives users ultimate speed and application control
2. Bright LED light illuminates dark work surfaces for accurate cutting
3. Universal accessory adapter for use with most oscillating tool accessory brands
4. Includes DCS355 20-Volt Max oscillating tool, wood with nails blade, fast-cut wood blade and        universal accessory adapter
5. 0-20,000 OPM
6. Batteries and charger sold separately
7. Bright LED light for dark work areas

  • Now what really sets this multi tool over the top is the QUICK-CHANGE head that is the most easy, peasy system I have ever tried. It’s so fast that blades can be changed out in less than 2 seconds, and the blades are held in there firmly. Not only that, but the universal accessory adapter can be used with most oscillating tool accessory brands which in return, opens this tool up to many different applications. No wrenches, no fuss, no headache.
All in all, this Dremel 20v Multi-tool is one of the best, all-around well thought out tools I have tried. It was fun to use, and had more than enough power to get the job done. I highly recommend!
